Nuclear Deal today is one of the most talked about stories among the Indian Media, Politicians and the Urban Population of India.
Some call it the "Best thing that can happen to the Energy starved India", some would call it the "Deal which can bring down the Government". Yet i do not know the details of the deal except the fact that not only would it bring the 2 Biggest Democratic Countries in the World together, but it would also help India in generating Energy which is the need of hour and will also aid in sustaining the GDP Growth that the Country has witnessed.
The Relations between India and US have never been better, and i do not see any reason why we should not come closer. A lot of people have termed as anti-muslim,anti-sikh, anti -???. I seriously wonder what goes inside the brains of these people. What has Energy got to do with Religion? They should see the Bigger Picture, we are using this deal to meet our energy demands and if that requires a little bit of tango with US, so be it.
I know some people say, it limits our right to Test Nuclear Weapons(Quote: Hyde Act), but i guess we already do possess weapons of mass destruction and i dont think in the near immediate future we would be required to test. But having said that, debating on such a thing makes sense, but our Politicians again are just using this as another way to Topple the Goverment, and putting party before Country.
Mayawati is at its best trying to poach and pursue the MPs to vote against the Congress in the Parliament tomorrow so she can harbour her dream of becoming "PM". Mayawati as "PM", i can never imagine this even in my craziest of dreams. One, she is accused as one of the most corrupt (Based on her manifold increase in Assets), her state UP is again one of the least progressive states in India. If she is able to turn around UP, prove that she can make things work, then yes i would not mind. But till then i would prefer an Intellectual like Dr. Manmohan Singh to be the PM.
I hope the Goverment is able to survive the Trust Vote tomorrow and Nuclear deal sees the light of the day. One of the only few good decisions taken by the Congress.
