I happen to have a conversation this morning with one of my Office Colleague who happens to be from India. During the course of conversation, the topic of Mumbai came up and boy was i passionate talking about "Aamchi Mumbai". We spoke a lot about Mumbai, its people, food, how will the Infrastructure shape up in the coming few years..etc.
With the word "Infrastructure" a lot of things came into my mind...Metro Rail..Monorail..and so on. I am anxiously waiting for all these things to be developed, though i know it will take a while but i only see a beautiful city. I cant wait to be there at the place i "still" call Home.
I just googled to see the developments that are going to happen and i was in for a surprise !
Wadala Truck Terminal -The Objective is to decongest South Mumbai by shifting the existing transport companies offices and godowns, which are today concentrated in B & C Wards
Shifting of Wholesale Markets - Shifting of all Major Markets to Navi Mumbai and also the Textile Market to BKC
Mahim Nature Park - This used to be one of the Major Garbage Dump only to be converted to a Nature Park. ( I never knew this existed, there are many good things about this Park, sure to visit this place the next time i m there)
Mumbai Metri Rail Project - One of the most ambitious ones (My Favourite...this one could be similar to the Tube of London or the Subway of NYC, or maybe the NJPATH )
Skywalks - The Bandra one is already done, waiting for the Rest.
Monorail - Another smart one, maybe completed by 2012.
Station Area Traffic Improvement Scheme (SATIS)
Again, the sheer increase in the development of Highrise Building will make Mumbai resemble any other major Financial City in the world..NYC ..why not..after all we have dared to dream and
god willing...it will turn into a reality.
