Where are we headed?

I was only happy to know that the UPA Goverment survived the Trust Vote and there was a high possibility that the Nuclear Deal would see the light of the day. But my happiness was short lived as two major cities in India were targeted by Islamic Fundamentalist or so called Terrorist by setting off IEDs killing innocent Indian Lives.

This is really concerning, and my heart goes out to the Families of people who died in the Blasts at Bangalore and Ahmedabad. I am also filled with tremendous anger against Pakistan and Bangladesh. I know, i dont have any concrete proof but lets face it on one side we have Pakistan (Rated as a Failed State), one of the most unstable countries in the world and a major hotbed of Islamic Fundamentalist who want to rule the world or to have something they call "Ummah". Their only purpose is to create problems for India. On the other hand we have Bangladesh, whom we helped achieve Independence. But the Goverment of that Country is doing nothing against People who carry out Anti-India Activities. Talk about back stabbing !

I am sorry to say, but the way things are going i have absolutely no hope for these countries as they would be easy Targets for Terrorist. Its difficult to identity these Terrorist in India, but then our IB has been sleeping and they only wake up if something happens. After the blast, i read security beefed up in the Capital. I mean come on, how is that gona help, lives have already been lost and i dont think the Terrorist are so stupid to carry out another Blast when the Security is tight.

We need a "Strong" Anti-Terror Law, but i know the UPA Goverment is so busy with Minority Appeasement, that they forget about Security. I read "Security in India" is a joke, and i totally agree. The Terrorist are striking at will, and we are able to do nothing. The whole thing is scary and i only see problems in Future. This can lead to further isolation of Muslims in the Country, but then again i had heard "All Muslims are not Terrorist but all Terrorist are Muslims". Today the Goverment does not really see the Bigger Picture, they have to act now if we are to sustain the development which are seeing now. I dont want to see "Shariah" implemented .. Lets hope and pray to GOD, that things get better and sense prevails.

Aamchi Mumbai - Future Projects

I happen to have a conversation this morning with one of my Office Colleague who happens to be from India. During the course of conversation, the topic of Mumbai came up and boy was i passionate talking about "Aamchi Mumbai". We spoke a lot about Mumbai, its people, food, how will the Infrastructure shape up in the coming few years..etc.

With the word "Infrastructure" a lot of things came into my mind...Metro Rail..Monorail..and so on. I am anxiously waiting for all these things to be developed, though i know it will take a while but i only see a beautiful city. I cant wait to be there at the place i "still" call Home.

I just googled to see the developments that are going to happen and i was in for a surprise !

Wadala Truck Terminal -The Objective is to decongest South Mumbai by shifting the existing transport companies offices and godowns, which are today concentrated in B & C Wards

Shifting of Wholesale Markets - Shifting of all Major Markets to Navi Mumbai and also the Textile Market to BKC

Mahim Nature Park - This used to be one of the Major Garbage Dump only to be converted to a Nature Park. ( I never knew this existed, there are many good things about this Park, sure to visit this place the next time i m there)

Mumbai Metri Rail Project - One of the most ambitious ones (My Favourite...this one could be similar to the Tube of London or the Subway of NYC, or maybe the NJPATH )

Skywalks - The Bandra one is already done, waiting for the Rest.

Monorail - Another smart one, maybe completed by 2012.

Station Area Traffic Improvement Scheme (SATIS)

Again, the sheer increase in the development of Highrise Building will make Mumbai resemble any other major Financial City in the world..NYC ..why not..after all we have dared to dream and
god willing...it will turn into a reality.

Nuclear Deal !!

Nuclear Deal today is one of the most talked about stories among the Indian Media, Politicians and the Urban Population of India.

Some call it the "Best thing that can happen to the Energy starved India", some would call it the "Deal which can bring down the Government". Yet i do not know the details of the deal except the fact that not only would it bring the 2 Biggest Democratic Countries in the World together, but it would also help India in generating Energy which is the need of hour and will also aid in sustaining the GDP Growth that the Country has witnessed.

The Relations between India and US have never been better, and i do not see any reason why we should not come closer. A lot of people have termed as anti-muslim,anti-sikh, anti -???. I seriously wonder what goes inside the brains of these people. What has Energy got to do with Religion? They should see the Bigger Picture, we are using this deal to meet our energy demands and if that requires a little bit of tango with US, so be it.

I know some people say, it limits our right to Test Nuclear Weapons(Quote: Hyde Act), but i guess we already do possess weapons of mass destruction and i dont think in the near immediate future we would be required to test. But having said that, debating on such a thing makes sense, but our Politicians again are just using this as another way to Topple the Goverment, and putting party before Country.

Mayawati is at its best trying to poach and pursue the MPs to vote against the Congress in the Parliament tomorrow so she can harbour her dream of becoming "PM". Mayawati as "PM", i can never imagine this even in my craziest of dreams. One, she is accused as one of the most corrupt (Based on her manifold increase in Assets), her state UP is again one of the least progressive states in India. If she is able to turn around UP, prove that she can make things work, then yes i would not mind. But till then i would prefer an Intellectual like Dr. Manmohan Singh to be the PM.

I hope the Goverment is able to survive the Trust Vote tomorrow and Nuclear deal sees the light of the day. One of the only few good decisions taken by the Congress.

Ancient Wisdom !!

SCIENCE BOOKS OF ANCIENT INDIA

A study of the ancient books of India dealing with science makes interesting reading. Let us try to see at least a few of them.

1. VIMAANA SHASTRA.
Rsi Bhaaradwaaja is the author. Mr. Joshier has translated this to English. Based on this Taarpade couple of Bombay in 1895 prepared an aeroplane by name “MARUTSUKHA”. This plane was using sun light and mercury vapour for its fuel. This flew for a distance of 2000 feet. The Right Brothers had not yet invented the aeroplane then. Since the British were ruling India, this invention did not get publicized.

2. AMSHUBODHINI
This book authored by Sage Bhaaradvaaja mentioned the use of solar energy for various purposes. It was also mentioned that wireless messages could be sent.

3. GOLAADHYAAYA
Bhaaskaraachaarya was the author. It deals with geometry and mentions the methods to decide on the movement of the various planets, their speed etc.,

4. Yanthra sarvasva
This was also authored by Bhaaradvaaja. Electricity production and management is the subject here.

5. NAARAYANA SOOKTHA.
This deals with human body science. The specialty is the specific details of the heart mentioned in this book, which is valid even now.

6. MAALINEE SHAASTRA
This book authored by Rishyashringa deals with living and non-living things and the basic difference etc.

7. VISHA VAADA
This deals with chemistry. Various experiments to produce several materials are described here.

8. SOOPA SHASTRA
Maharshi Sukesha’s book dealing with cookery.

9. GAARUDAM
Deals with anti poison drugs.

10. AATHREYA
Deals with surgery authored by Rsi. Aathreya.

11. AKSHARA LAKSHANA GANITHA SHAASTRA
Deals with mathematics and contains 84 theorems and theories.

12. SOUDAAMINEE KULA
Authored by Rsi. Mathanga and deals with geography and astronomy.

13 ANUKARANA SHABDASHAASTRA
Deals with sound. An authoritative book.

14. CHITHRA KARMA
Deals with photography.

15. BRAHMAANDA SHAASTRA
Deals with different worlds and the instruments useful to see them.

16. AAKAASHA THANTRA
Deals with space research.

17. LOHA TANTRA
Deals with different metals.

18. SHAKTHI TANTRA
Different sources of energy are the subject matter.

19. KAALA SHAASTRA
Measurement of time is the subject here.

20. AARYABHATTEEYA
Deals with astronomy and mathematics. It is here that for the first time it was told that the earth is round and goes round the sun. It took several centuries for the westerners to find this out. It has also been mentioned here as to how eclipses take place.

Other than these, there are several other works like- BRIHAT SAMHITHE, VIGNAANA BHYRAVAM, ANDA KOUSTUBHAM, AAPTATVA PRAKAARANAM, MEGHOTPATTI PRAKARANAM, SHILPASHAASTRA, PARAASHARA SMRITHI, SHIVA SWARODAYAM, BHAAVA PRKAASHIKA, GARBHOPANISHAT ETC.,

What is needed is the will to conduct research on these and find out what and how much more is available to us in our old scriptures. Modern scientists of Indian origin should take the required initiative in the direction.
